Training
My training philosophy is simple: to allow the horse to trust and respect their human handlers. Once a horse has the sense of trust instilled upon them, they will be willing to do what is asked of them by their rider. With this trust, they will respect the rider’s decisions and space thus creating a safer and more beneficial environment for both. Trust and respect will create a lasting partnership between horse and rider.
I’ve built my training program on creating a rapport with each horse as an individual. The ability to work calmly through difficulties and not by force produces a more willing equine partner. I have learned from experience that a willing horse can better reach their full potential and take their rider farther than a horse who is forced into submission. I like to leave each training session with the horse having a sense of achievement and being proud of what they accomplished.
I have 15+ years of riding experience in Dressage, Hunter-Jumpers, and Eventing. I have been working with and training young horses for over 6 years now. I work with a variety of horses, including halter and green breaking young or inexperienced horses, helping off the track thoroughbreds succeed in a new discipline, corrective training for horses that need some tune up, as well as more advanced training in Dressage and Eventing for horses with a solid training foundation that wish to excel to higher levels.
I currently train horses in both Santa Fe, New Mexico and Corvallis, Oregon, for information on when training is available in each location, check my calendar or contact me.
